ABOUT ME
My name is Kari Young. I am a 5th grade teacher in the Kent School District in Kent, Washington. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2014 with an Elementary Education degree with a focus on Language Arts and a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
Immediately after obtaining my teaching certificate in 2015, I began my journey through the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program, again through Michigan State. It was also at this point that I moved to Seattle and began teaching 5th grade. While I was interested in moving to the Pacific Northwest, I was especially interested in the Kent School District because of its emphasis on technology. With the knowledge I have obtained through the MAET program, I have been working to become more involved with the technology in my school and district. This includes attending the district's first Technology Summit, where teachers, administrators, parents, and students spent a day dreaming of the technology we would like to see in our classrooms to best support students for their futures. |
